What is Provincial Nominee Program?

Workers who have the talent, education, and work experience to contribute to the economy of a given province or territory, wish to live in that province, and want to become permanent citizens of Canada are eligible for this program.

Each province and territory has its own "streams" of criteria. In a program stream, provinces and territories could, for example, target the following:

What is Express Entry Provincial Nominee Program?

In 2015, Canada launched Express Entry as a method for managing permanent residency applications. Since then, a number of Canadian provinces and territory have developed 'enhanced' PNP streams that are Express Entry compatible. In order to meet the PNP eligibility standards, certain PNPs require that an applicant have an Express Entry profile. Alternatively, if an applicant receives a nomination through a PNP that is not associated with Express Entry, they must apply for permanent residency as a provincial nominee using a paper-based federal application. This can take a lengthy time to process compared to electronic Express Entry applications.

Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)

Prospective immigrants with the talents and expertise that Nova Scotia seeks may be nominated to immigrate through the NSNP. For qualifying applications, the processing time can be three (3) months or longer. The procedure varies depending on which NSNP stream you are eligible for.  Apply for your permanent residence visa with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada within six (6) months of getting your nominated certificate.

Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP)

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is run in partnership with the Canadian government. The OINP identifies and nominates candidates for permanent residence that have the skills and expertise that the Ontario economy requires. The Government of Canada takes the final decision on whether or not to approve the applications. Through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, it collaborates with the Canadian government (IRCC).

Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is a program that allows people from Saskatchewan to immigrate to Canada. The Saskatchewan government, through the SINP, is able to:

Non-Canadians who desire to make Saskatchewan their home are invited to apply for residency. Successful candidates for permanent residency in Canada are nominated to the federal government. The SINP is just one stage in the process of becoming a permanent resident of Saskatchewan.
